Description: Here Dinu Lipatti, great roumanian pianist, gave one of his last concerts in 1950 at the Lucern Festival. He played Mozart's Piano Concerto No 21 with Karajan as a conductor and this wonderful performance has been available on records since 1960's.

Description: Monstrous Albert Hall. On the back of the postcard someone writes (dated August 1948):..."Just back from the Proms-modern but quite interesting. The Sibelius 2nd Symphony was good. The Alan Bush Violin Concerto (1st performance) needs more hearing, but Max Rostal played it jolly well. The Shostakovitch Concerto for piano, trumpet & strings had some good moments, but some ?comic ones. The L.P.O. were in good form & so was Basil..." It was nice to read this, knowing that both Celibidache and Dinu Lipatti performed in Albert Hall during - 48 & -49. And that Lipatti himself attended Celibidache's concert in London during this time.

Description: And not only Celibidache and Lipatti have performed here. Also our beloved Master Anton Bruckner has played the organs at this amazing hall. According to Royal Albert Hall's Performance History Bruckner gave organ concerts there on two occasions. First was an organ recital on 2.8. 1871 when Bruckner gave improvisation on Bach's Toccata etc. and during the London International Exhibition 1871 he gave several performances. Dinu Lipatti gave two concerts at Albert Hall in 1948 (one sold out concert in 1947 had to be cancelled due to his illness) and Sergiu Celibidache conducted 5 concerts during 1948-1949.
